Things to Do in Hong Kong: the Tai Hang Fire Dragon and Lantern Streets
I was in Hong Kong in September 2026, around the Mid-Autumn period. These notes cover what I saw and where I stayed.
Where I Stayed in Hong Kong
I stayed at Mini Central and at Dorsett Wanchai. I'm recording the two stays, not rating rooms or describing amenities.
What I Did in Hong Kong
I watched the Tai Hang Fire Dragon, the incense-covered dragon dance through the streets of Tai Hang.
I walked Lee Tung Avenue under its lanterns, and spent time around Times Square in Causeway Bay.
Practical guidance
The Fire Dragon draws big crowds in a small neighbourhood. Arrive early, check the official festival schedule for that year, and use the MTR rather than a taxi.
