What I Did: Kuromon, Dotonbori, Shinsekai and Shinsaibashi
I took a Kuromon Market food tour with a guide named Oren, then spent time in Dotonbori, Shinsekai and Shinsaibashi. Those four areas gave me a good feel for how a central base works in this city.
How to Choose a Base in Osaka (general advice)
This is general guidance, separate from my own stays. Central areas such as Shinsaibashi and Namba suit people who want food and nightlife on foot; staying near a major station helps if you're planning day trips. Check the walk to the nearest station and confirm current rates directly with each property.
