amba Taipei Ximending: My Three Nights in Taipei's Busiest Neighbourhood

I spent three nights in Taipei, from October 5 to 8, 2026, based at amba Taipei Ximending. If you're weighing up where to stay in Taipei, Ximending is the neighbourhood I can speak to firsthand — and these notes cover both where I slept and what I did there.

Where I Stayed: amba Taipei Ximending

Breakfast was part of my stay, and so was free laundry — a small thing that matters a lot when you're moving between cities with one bag. Those two details made the hotel an easy, practical base.

The hotel staff also gave me a tour of the property.

This is a note on my stay, not a scored hotel review: I'm sharing what I used, not ratings.

What I Did in Ximending

I explored Ximending on foot, eating noodles and drinking bubble tea along the way.

Live music was part of my Taipei evenings too, including a blues jam.

Choosing among the best hotels in Taipei (general advice)

This part is general guidance, not a record of my trip. My stay notes here focus on amba; my separate Taipei guide also records my Hotel Gracery stay. The best hotels in Taipei for one traveller can be the wrong choice for another, so it helps to decide what you want on your doorstep. Taipei is easy to navigate by metro, so many travellers pick a base by neighbourhood. Ximending is busy, walkable and full of street food; other districts suit travellers wanting somewhere quieter or more business-focused.

Wherever you book, check how close you are to a metro station, whether services you rely on — breakfast, laundry, luggage storage — are included, and confirm current rates and policies directly with the property.
